Mad Orbs

Maps

Know the ground before the fight

Mad Orbs has 81 maps, made by the creators of Babo Violent 2 and by its community. Each one is seen here from above, like in the game's training window: the light parts are walls, the dark parts are the floor, the yellow dots are where Orbs spawn, and in Capture the Flag the red and blue squares are the bases. The weather comes from each map's theme: rain, snow, sandstorm or lava.

Online, Capture the Flag rotates through its more than sixty maps, and Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch rotate through both groups, the 11 Deathmatch maps below and the Capture the Flag ones: about seventy maps. At the end of each match the players vote for the next map among three. In the offline training you can pick any map and learn it without pressure.

Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch

The whole rotation of the two arena modes, from the smallest map in the game to fortresses with rooms and corridors.

The DM-Arena map seen from above

DM-Arena

16 × 16 blocks · 9 spawn points · weather: none · by Daivuk

A square arena with almost nothing in the way: two L-shaped walls in opposite corners and spawn points all around. Fights start seconds after you spawn. Fast weapons and the shotgun rule here; the two L walls are where you break the line of sight when your life is low.

The DM-Brutus map seen from above

DM-Brutus

21 × 27 blocks · 12 spawn points · weather: none · by Commander Sam Vimes

An uneven, rounded map full of short walls scattered across the middle, like a ruined courtyard. Lines of sight are short and change every few steps, so the sub machine gun, the dual machine gun and grenades thrown around the corners work best.

The DM-Bubble map seen from above

DM-Bubble

16 × 16 blocks · 16 spawn points · weather: none · by Adder

A round arena with an I-shaped block in the centre and a wall on each side. The I splits the middle into two lanes you can always circle, to escape or to surprise someone. Sixteen spawn points on a small floor make it one of the busiest maps.

The DM-Field map seen from above

DM-Field

32 × 16 blocks · 20 spawn points · weather: snow · by Daivuk

Wide and short, under falling snow, with bracket-shaped walls that form small rooms along its length. Long horizontal lines favour the sniper rifle and the photon rifle; the brackets give cover to whoever wants to close the distance.

The DM-Fort map seen from above

DM-Fort

32 × 32 blocks · 16 spawn points · weather: rain · by Daivuk

A big map in the rain, with a fortress of rooms and corridors in its upper half and an open yard dotted with pillars below. The corridors favour the shotgun, the flame thrower and the photon rifle, which goes through everyone in a line; the yard suits medium range.

The DM-HellOnEarth map seen from above

DM-HellOnEarth

32 × 16 blocks · 18 spawn points · weather: lava · by Daivuk

A wide lava map whose walls run in diagonals, forming pockets along the edges. The diagonals make enemies cross your sight at an angle: follow them with fast weapons, and use the pockets for ambushes.

The DM-Highway map seen from above

DM-Highway

16 × 32 blocks · 14 spawn points · weather: none · by Daivuk

Tall and narrow, like a road: a long wall in the middle, with pairs of pillars beside it, splits the map into two lanes that meet at the ends. Watch both lanes; the bazooka and grenades sent down a lane hurt.

The DM-MiniArena map seen from above

DM-MiniArena

8 × 8 blocks · 4 spawn points · weather: none · by Vesuvius

The smallest map in the game, 8 by 8, with two pairs of blocks in a diagonal and four spawn points in the corners. Pure chaos: everyone is always within shotgun range, and a nuke bot covers almost the whole map.

The DM-MiniMess map seen from above

DM-MiniMess

30 × 30 blocks · 14 spawn points · weather: none · by Vesuvius

A big open field dotted with dozens of single blocks arranged in rings around the centre. Each block is cover for a moment, so fights become duels of peeking out and hiding. Good for the sniper and the photon rifle, between the rings.

The DM-NoSnipe map seen from above

DM-NoSnipe

17 × 17 blocks · 6 spawn points · weather: none · by Vesuvius

As the name says, a map made against snipers: a small floor where an H-shaped wall and several L walls cut every long line of sight. Short and medium range weapons win here; the sniper rifle has little room to work.

The DM-Pong map seen from above

DM-Pong

16 × 16 blocks · 8 spawn points · weather: sandstorm · by Daivuk

A tribute to Pong under a sandstorm: an open square with two paddle-like walls and a block in the middle, like the ball. There is almost no cover, so movement decides: keep rolling and use the paddles to break the line of sight.

Capture the Flag

Eight of the Capture the Flag maps, chosen to show how different they are: castles, forts, long fields and narrow mazes.

The CTF-Castle map seen from above

CTF-Castle

32 × 32 blocks · 34 spawn points · weather: none

A castle of rings of walls, with both flags close to the centre. The way in winds through the rings, so the attackers have to break through layer after layer, and a defender with a shotgun or a flame thrower at the inner gaps is hard to pass.

The CTF-Cornered map seen from above

CTF-Cornered

16 × 32 blocks · 14 spawn points · weather: sandstorm · by Poit

Narrow and tall, under a sandstorm, with the bases in opposite corners and zigzag walls between them. The path is long and full of turns: escort your carrier, and throw a molotov at a turn to slow down the chasers.

The CTF-Daivuk map seen from above

CTF-Daivuk

32 × 32 blocks · 23 spawn points · weather: none · by Daivuk

Made by Daivuk, one of the creators of Babo Violent 2: diagonal walls everywhere, with the bases in opposite corners. There are many routes and none is straight, which favours fast attacks and makes the carrier hard to catch.

The CTF-Fort map seen from above

CTF-Fort

32 × 32 blocks · 8 spawn points · weather: rain · by Daivuk

An unusual uneven map in the rain: the red base sits inside a fortress of rooms, the blue one in an open corner. Red defends behind walls and doors; blue has more room but less cover. Grenades and the bazooka help to clear the fortress rooms.

The CTF-Invaders map seen from above

CTF-Invaders

39 × 25 blocks · 14 spawn points · weather: sandstorm · by Vesuvius

Small irregular clusters of blocks scattered over a sandy field, with the bases in opposite corners. It is also the map of the Waves mode. The clusters give cover everywhere, for short and constant skirmishes.

The CTF-MegaField map seen from above

CTF-MegaField

48 × 24 blocks · 20 spawn points · weather: none · by Vesuvius

The longest map in this list, 48 by 24, with the bases at the far ends and walls in mirror between them. Captures take time: the carrier needs an escort, and snipers have long lines to cover the field.

The CTF-Rawr map seen from above

CTF-Rawr

32 × 16 blocks · 16 spawn points · weather: snow · by Hatred

Wide and short, under the snow, with the bases in opposite corners joined by corridors. Both teams cross in the middle: whoever holds it controls the flag runs.

The CTF-Scorched map seen from above

CTF-Scorched

32 × 32 blocks · 10 spawn points · weather: lava · by Vesuvius

An octagon of scorched ground, with lava around and a big block in the middle, and the bases at the top and at the bottom. The block splits the field into two routes; the winding walls on the sides are good hiding spots for the defenders.
